INTEL BRIEF — FROM THE EDITOR
Welcome to Issue #001. The Kimura is named after the legendary
submission Masahiko Kimura used to break Helio Gracie's arm in 1951
— a move so devastating they named it after him permanently. That's
the energy here. Sharp, deliberate, and impossible to ignore. Every
week: one tactical puzzle, a quick intel brief, and a live leaderboard.
Let's get after it.
01 — THIS WEEK'S SUBMISSION
Tactical Logic Puzzle · Timed Challenge
SCENARIO — DELTA TEAM, KANDAHAR PROVINCE
A 4-man reconnaissance team is extracting from a compromised
position. They reach a damaged bridge at night. The bridge can
only hold 2 people at a time. They have one flashlight which must
accompany every crossing.
Ghost crosses in 1 minute.
Reaper crosses in 2 minutes.
Doc crosses in 5 minutes.
Heavy crosses in 10 minutes.
When two operators cross together, they move at the slower
operator's pace. Enemy contact is estimated in 17 minutes.
QUESTION: What is the minimum time to get all four across —
and do they make it before enemy contact?
A) 19 minutes — they don't make it.
B) 17 minutes — zero margin. High risk.
C) 15 minutes — 2 minutes to spare. Mission success.
D) 21 minutes — total mission failure.

02 — INTEL BRIEF
COMBAT
Why Kimura Never Tapped
In 1951, Masahiko Kimura gave Helio Gracie 3 minutes before
breaking his arm. Helio never tapped — his corner threw the towel.
The submission was so brutal the entire BJJ world renamed the
technique permanently.
MINDSET
The 2-Minute Rule for Hard Problems
Special operations units use a planning heuristic: if a problem
can't be broken into components in 2 minutes, you're thinking about
it wrong. The bridge puzzle above has a clean 3-step solution — most
people find it once they stop thinking linearly.
GEAR
Benchmade 940 Osborne
In continuous production since 2000. One of the few EDC blades
that gets sharper the more you use it with proper stropping. No
gimmicks. Buy it right, buy it once.

04 — WORD FROM THE MAT
"A man who has attained mastery of an art reveals it in his every
action." The best grapplers don't look like they're working hard.
The best thinkers don't look like they're thinking hard. Both are
the result of the same thing — reps taken so seriously they became
reflex.
